Nzambi Matee, a materials engineer from Kenya, decided to create a new product to struggle against plastic waste.

She is the founder of a company that recycles plastic waste into bricks that are stronger than concrete. Called Gjenge Makers ltd, her company initiated following the development of a prototype machine that turns discarded plastic into paving stones.

So far, the factory has managed to recycle more than 20 tonnes of plastic waste into bricks. She has also generated 112 job opportunities.

In my opinion, this is very good news. Indeed this product reduces the waste of plastic which is an essential factor to be taken into account for the protection of the environment. I also think that plastic is a material that is misused and misunderstood. The potential is huge, but if misused it can be disastrous for the planet.
